Structure of the examination
The exam consists of a written and an oral part.
In the A1 Junior exam, young learners complete tasks involving all skills. The first part consists of reading, listening and language building blocks, with task types such as multiple-choice questions or matching tasks. In the writing and speaking section, test takers are given a variety of prompts (e.g. pictures) and have to respond, expressing themselves either in writing or orally. Interaction takes place between examiners and test takers as well as between test takers in the oral section. Topics and vocabulary are selected to fit with the interests of young learners.
